Lukashenko: Corruption has been curbed in Belarus through joint efforts

Through joint efforts the competent agencies have managed to curb corruption in Belarus. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement during the solemn event held on 15 December to mark the 100th anniversary since the establishment of state security agencies in the country, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko said: We've managed to curb corruption in the last few years through joint efforts of the competent agencies.

Belarusian scientists promised support for breakthrough ideas

Scientists' constructive initiatives and breakthrough ideas will be always supported, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the Second Congress of Scientists of Belarus in Minsk on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

Offer bold proposals, suggest breakthrough technologies! All your sensible initiatives will be supported, the head of state said. He emphasized the importance of the meeting and invited scientists to discuss all the issues on the current agenda.

Lukashenko: Belarus' output of innovative products more than doubled within five years

The output of scientific, technical and innovative products more than doubled in Belarus in the past five years, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the 2nd Congress of Scientists of Belarus on 13 December, BelTA learned.

Addressing the participants of the biggest intellectual forum in the country, the head of state said that such events should be held more often because Belarus has ambitious goals which can be reached only with the help of science.

Belarus does not plan to join EU, but shows interest in EaP
Belarus does not plan to join the European Union but has an interest in its Eastern Partnership initiative, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko noted at the forum The European Union and its Eastern Partners: Current approaches to regional cooperation on 11 December, BelTA has learned.

Belarus does not intend to join the EU. However, since we are trading partners, we have many tourist, educational, and personal contacts with the EU and we are directly interested in the Eastern Partnership.

Belarus invites Russia to remove bottlenecks to solve bilateral problems
Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov offered Russia to remove bottlenecks to settle the issues of bilateral cooperation as he met with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. The meeting is taking place in the run-up to the Belarus-Russia Union State Council of Ministers, BelTA informs.

Active bilateral contacts have been bringing certain results, including in trade and economy, Andrei Kobyakov said.

Belarus president clarifies peculiarities of clinic construction project in Minsk's suburb

The clinic, which is being built in the village of Zhdanovichi, Minsk District and is nearly finished, will have to cater not only to civil servants but members of the general public, too. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 7 December to discuss healthcare organization in the future clinic, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that the construction of the clinic in a Minsk suburb is hotly debated by the general public.

Makei to attend OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna 7-8 December
Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei the 24th Ministerial Council of the states members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna on 7-8 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Vladimir Makei is set to make a speech at the plenary meeting and hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.

Belarus hopes to bolster ties with ANOC
