Calls to revisit five-point academic grading scale in Belarus

Suggestions have been made to discuss the return to the five-point academic grading scale in Belarus, Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Zharko told the media following a working meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

The ten-point grading scale was introduced in Belarus ten years ago. There are many questions relating to the ten-point system. Sometimes we have seen subjective attitudes in the knowledge evaluation.

Kobyakov: EAEU needs efficient system to combat customs duty and tax evasion

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) needs an efficient system to fight against the evasion of customs duties and taxes, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on 14 August, BelTA has learned.

We have discussed the draft agreement on the product traceability mechanism. We need an efficient system to counteract any grey schemes of customs duty and tax evasion, preventing goods from illegal turnover, the prime minister said.

Minsk region and Hengyeng province intend to develop cooperation in industry and agribusiness

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko heard out a report on the fulfillment of the instructions to stimulate business growth and finalize a package of relevant documents by October, BelTA has learned.

We must have these documents ready by 1 October for the society and businessmen to see, Alexander Lukashenko said.

Minsk, Ankara consider delivery of Belarusian goods to Turkey by water transport

Prospects for the delivery of Belarusian goods to Turkey along the Dnieper were discussed at a meeting between Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Turkey Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on 7 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

The parties welcomed the entry into force of the intergovernmental agreement to develop a mutual trade facilitation system, the so-called green corridor of fast-track customs clearance of goods.

500 Years of Belarusian Book Printing

The first Belarusian book, The Psalter, was published in Prague 500 years ago, on 6 August 1517. The book is considered to be one of the most popular and widespread books of the Bible. This book printed by Francysk Skaryna gave a start to the Belarusian book printing that developed as part of the European and East-Slavonic book printing.

Handwritten books came to Belarus with the advent of Christianity.

The grain harvest campaign should be completed by 20 August at the latest, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the nationwide teleconference held on 2 August to discuss the 2017 harvest campaign, BelTA has learned.

We need to complete the harvesting in the first half of August, or by 20 August at the latest, the president said.

PM: Belarus' economic indicators keep improving

Belarus' major economic indicators keep improving, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said during an extended meeting of the Council of Ministers to discuss the economic performance in H1 and further measures to achieve the goals of 2017, BelTA has learned.

Kobyakov about salary of $500: Many companies have already reached the goal

Many Belarusian companies have already achieved the goal to provide the average salary of $500, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said in an interview to the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

The goal has already been attained at many companies in different sectors, the premier said.

The salary of $500 should be earned and this is not only a goal for the government, he stressed.
